Q & A Wedding Photographer
How do we Choose our Photo Locations?
Part of having an efficient and workable timeline is allocating the right amount of time for photography and having things really prepared ahead of time, so choosing the location is one of the important variables where do we want to take these pictures and the way that I’ll shoot at these locations is through talking to my clients and finding out what kind of style and look that they’re interested in but also factor in how far the travel time is between the locations and then once we have these locations set and the timeline looks to be in place, I’ll go out and scout these locations even if I’ve shot there many times in the past, I still like to go to the location and plan out a little bit of a route of where we’re going to go what photos I might want and this helps to keep things efficient and organized, that we’re not scrambling on the day wondering where we should be doing pictures or what to do next. I always leave room for some flexibility and for some spontaneity when we’re at a location and we’ll be moving from one place to the next and maybe just finding, wow, that looks really cool, it’s not something that I have seen before and why don’t we do a few pictures there. I always want to allow for that spontaneity and that’s were a lot of the great pictures come from but in order to be efficient and make the best use of our time I’ll always pre scout the locations ahead of time to make sure that we’ve got a good route to make the best use of our time.
