We guarantee your images will be professionally retouched and delivered within 3 weeks of your wedding. We know you are excited to receive your photos and we don’t think you should have to wait 6 months to see them. We individually retouch each image with our signature style, ensuring that you have the highest quality photos, each one carefully prepared and ready to print.
Do we get the digital files?
Absolutely. This is something I have been doing since day one when I started almost 10 years ago. I think it's important for you to have those files and have the ability to use, print and share them however you like.
How long have you been photographing weddings?
My first 4 weddings were shot in 2005. I established Josh Bowie Photography the following year and shot 18 weddings. Since then I have photographed everything from small Do-It-Yourself backyard weddings to $100,000 + weddings.
How can we be sure we’ll get photos of the people who are most important to us?
To ensure we have photos of the most important people at your wedding we help you establish a shot list. The shot list highlights the family photos you want, as well as the most important guests at the wedding. Our 2 photographers make a concerted effort to have documentation of every guest at the wedding, and with the use of a shot list, you are sure to have photos of the most important guests! When you hire Josh Bowie Photography we always have 2 professional photographers documenting your wedding, so that you can enjoy your event with the confidence that it is being documented thoroughly.
Do you take photos of the details as well?
We photograph in a documentary style, which means you get documentation of all aspects of your day; from the people you cherish the most, to the intimate moments that make your day memorable, to the flowers, the table decor and other details that make your wedding unique. With two professional photographers we document your day in its entirety so that you can relive it for years to come.
How do you deal with couples that feel awkward when having their photo taken?
Many of the couple that I meet say to me “we are really unphotogenic and awkward having our photo taken!” This is VERY common.
My personality and photography style are relaxed and easy-going, which allows you to feel the same way. You don’t have to be models to get great photos, all you have to do is be yourselves and enjoy each other's company. I take care of the rest.
I don’t over-pose you, making you stand and act in ways that aren’t comfortable to you. I offer gentle suggestions and allow you to be yourselves, resulting in beautiful images that capture the real emotion and moments of intimacy.
I also offer engagement shoots. My engagement shoots allow you to gain experience at having your photo taken, and give you confidence that you will look great in your wedding photos! My engagement shoots are relaxed and give us an opportunity to spend time together before the wedding. The experience and confidence you get from seeing the engagement photos will translate into more natural and emotion-filled wedding photos! You will be able to relax and enjoy your wedding with confidence that you will look great in the photos!
Do you give us direction and pose us in the photos?
My approach to wedding photography is relaxed and easy-going, which allows couples to be the same way. I don’t leave you hanging, trying to figure it out for yourself, but at the same time I don’t over-pose. I want couples to feel natural because that’s how we get the best photos. My easy-going personality and relaxed approach to wedding photography creates a safe environment for couples to be themselves, which results in photos that are natural, full of real emotion and unique to each couple. I always tell couples, “...all you have to do to get great photos is just be yourself and enjoy each other's company!” This is the secret. If you do this, your photos will be great. It’s my job to find the best angles and the best light, and to catch those moments of intimacy and connection between couples. That is what I do best; you’ll love the results!
What kind of camera gear do you use?
I use top-of-the-line Canon cameras and lenses, which means you get the highest quality images, under virtually any lighting condition. I have a variety of lenses that I use throughout the day, allowing every aspect of the day to be documented appropriately. I always have 2 camera bodies with me, as well as a variety of lenses.
We don’t see many family photos on the website, do you do portraits with the families?
Yes, of course! Before the wedding we help you create a list of the family portraits you want and we are sure to block out some time in the schedule for this. Don’t worry, we’ll help. We know these photos are important to you. We don’t often blog these shots, but if you’d like to see any examples, don’t hesitate to ask!
